Ross Herr Takes on Durango

Suunto user Ross Herr recently drove to Durango for some spring kayaking. He spent time in the whitewater park his first day before meeting up with some locals to hit the river. The crew of Ross, Matt, Cruise, Eric and Alex ate up the 650cfs for some non-stop laps.

Here's an excerpt from Ross Herr's blog:
Just got home from another awesome spring kick off down in Durango. I love heading down there early and paddling with the sick locals that have some of the best creeking in Colorado at their fingertips. I know I’ll leave Durango pumped and in better shape from the hiking than if I started anywhere else. The locals down here are awesome boaters. I was lucky to run into Matt Wilson and some instructors from 4 Corners that have all the beta on the committing gorges near by...(read more)
Ross took along his GoPro on the river. Check it out.

What has”The Caveman” Conrad Stoltz been up to? Answer: Winning that would make any Neanderthal proud.

It’s about time for an update on Suunto athlete Conrad Stoltz. He trains with a Suunto t6c Red Arrow and pods. April was a successful month with two HUGE wins for our favorite "dirty" triathlete.

First up, XTERRA Waco, Texas was Conrad’s 38th XTERRA career win. With just 15 seconds separating the top three men, it was a close race. The big news, however, is what this 38th XTERRA win means for his career. Conrad is now the winningest XTERRA pro ever. We are so proud!

Next, it was off to Europe for the 2011 ITU Cross Tri World Champion in Extramadura, Spain. In its first year, the championship was a new off road triathlon concept.

His blazing bike time, 3 minutes and 40 seconds in front of the rest of the field, helped him clinch the big win. This is Conrad’s 5th World Title in his 19 years as a professional triathlete.

And, to sweeten his spring 2011 season, “The Caveman” also recently won the triathlon at XTERRA Santa Cruz, CA. What a day in Surf City USA for our very own Conrad Stoltz!

Suunto User Jennifer Pharr Davis Takes on Overall Speed Record on Appalachian Trail

Suunto user Jennifer Pharr Davis, the owner of Asheville, North Carolina-based guiding, coaching and public speaking company Blue Ridge Hiking Co. and author of Becoming Odyssa: Epic Adventures on the Appalachian Trail, is gearing up for a record-breaking challenge on the AT.

In 2008 she harnessed the women's speed record 57 days, 8 hours and 35 minutes for the 2,181 mile Appalachian Trail. This summer, Jennifer hopes to surpass overall record as well, by completing the trail in 47 days, 13 hours and 31 minutes. Jennifer will have to average 47 miles a day. She has hiked more than 9,000 miles of long distance trails. She has trekked on six continents and currently holds endurance records on the Appalachian Trail, the Long Trail and the Bibbulmun Track.

In an interview with National Parks Traveler, Jennifer said: "... I believe that by pushing our limits we are able to refine ourselves and learn about ourselves in a positive manner, despite the outcome. We can never accomplish anything excellent or new unless we are willing to try new things and test our boundaries."

Good luck, Jennifer, and happy trails!
